FINAL BOARD
PHYSICAL MODEL
PROCESS
The Erlanger House Pavilion required unique care, as it is an addition to an already existing building. This put many constraints on the project in terms of square footage and design limitations. The constraints encouraged creative problem-solving, resulting in a space that not only retains important parts of the original building but also enhances the overall aesthetic and usability of the property.
E-1027 PRECEDENT STUDY
Study was performed on the E-1027 house by Eileen Gray. A variety of drawings, diagrams, and even a model were produced, furthering the understanding of the house and its successful elements.
SITE ANALYSIS
Existing Erlanger House was visited and analyzed in depth. Class split into groups to gather exact dimensions of the house, which were then used to create to-scale hand drawings.

PAVILION DESIGN
Using what was learned in both the precedent study and site analysis, the pavilion was designed in Rhino. Though some elements were kept constant throughout the design process, many were replaced or changed to improve the result.
Curved stairs were chosen because of the lack of space in the backyard for a straight staircase
First Iteration
Final Iteration
The final iteration has one floor instead of two, allowing for more light flow and an overall more pleasant and spacious experience.
